STEPS & CHECKLIST

Note I: Application for Type ‘A’ i.e. paid service are to be submitted at BLS either in-person or as postal/courier. Application for Type ‘B’ i.e. gratis service can be submitted and obtained online without visiting any office.

Note II: For all types of applications (i.e. fresh/reissue/updation) a digital version of OCI (electronic OCI i.e. e-OCI) shall be issued without physical card. The e-OCI can be downloaded from the portal and can be used for travel. Steps to download e-OCI: CLICK HERE.

Type A1 (Paid)

1. In case of change of personal particulars viz. name, parent's name, nationality, gender etc.

1. Printout of duly filled online Application Form (All documents are mandatorily required to be uploaded.)
2. Valid Foreign Passport (copy)
3. Current OCI (either physical card or downloaded e-OCI)
4. Photograph (as per specification)
5. Name change certificate issued by competent authority
6. CoPR in case of change of nationality.
7. Registered Marriage Certificate and copy of spouse’s current passport (if married)
8. If change of Gender:
   1. New passport reflecting the changed gender.
   2. Old passport.
   3. Medical certificate
      • If issued from India, copy should be attested by Attestation Cell, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
      • If issued by a member-country of “Hague Apostille Convention, Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation of Foreign Public Documents” (HCCH 1961 Apostille Convention), copy should be apostilled by competent authority from that country.
      • If issued by a country not member of HCCH 1961 Apostille Convention, copy should be attested by the competent authority of that country followed by re-attestation by the Indian Embassy there.

*NOTE: If two paid services are applied in one application (i.e. updation of passport after 3 months of issuance and change of personal particulars), fees for both need to be paid.

Type A2 (Paid) Online updation of Passport Details after 3 months

In case of Updation of passport details after 3 months of issuance

1. Additional Form: CLICK HERE

2. Latest Passport Copy

Type A3 (Paid) Voluntary Surrender of OCI Card

In case of surrender of OCI Card Please fill online form and submit at BLS Centre

1. Application form
2. Original OCI Card
3. Declaration form filled online via Portal
4. If working with foreign military/police, provide employment letter and self-declaration for voluntary surrender

Note: Please be advised, if application is found to be ineligible, fee once paid is not refundable.

Type B1 (Gratis) Online updation of Details

Every time new passport is issued (except Type A2)

Type B2 (Gratis) Online updation of address/occupation/contact details

1. Upload Proof of Changed address/occupation details

Type B3 (Gratis) Email Id updation

1. register on the online OCI Services portal with the valid email ID using “User Register” functionality (https://ociservices.gov.in)
2. login to the OCI portal using “User Login” functionality.
3. choose “OCI Miscellaneous Services” present on the dashboard
4. enter the valid details (OCI number, passport number and date of birth) of the OCI card for which the email id updation is required.
5. Select Email ID Updation service under Gratis service
6. Enter OCI card details and reason for availing the service
7. Upload the scanned copy of the OCI card.
8. Verify the information displayed through the application liked with the entered OCI number and newly filled information and click on final submit
9. Once approved by competent authority, the new email id will be updated in OCI records which can be used to download the e-OCI.

Type B4 (Gratis) Subsistence of marriage for foreign spouse holding OCI of 5 years validity

2. Upload new passport

3. Declaration for subsistence of marriage: LINK

4. Valid Indian passport or OCI card

5. Valid foreign passport of the Indian-origin spouse.

Photo Specifications

1. One color photo as per below specification is required to be submitted along with the application:
2. Size – 2 inch x 2 inch (51 mm x 51 mm)
3. Background – Background should be plain white colored without borders.
4. Clothes – Dark colour
5. Eyes – Open

NOTE:

1. After online submission of application form, no changes can be made manually / hand writing. In case of any error / changes, please fill a new online application form and use that for further submission to BLS.
2. Consulate cannot edit or make any changes to the applicant’s online application form.
3. Consulate reserves the right to call for additional documents, as considered necessary.

Postal Applications

Type A1 (Paid)

5. Bank Draft in favor of BLS International Services Canada Inc. for CAD 40.70.

Bank Draft in favor of BLS International Services Canada Inc. for CAD 79.70 in case of updation of passport after 3 months of issuance and change of personal particulars.

Type A3 (Paid) Voluntary Surrender of OCI Card
