How to Apply

PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR AN INDIAN VISA

In person

Step-1

  • Identify consular jurisdiction and application center based on your present location.
  • Complete the online application form (IVFRT) before visiting the Indian visa application center.
  • Applicant shall file online visa application at http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ . This will generate the Web File Number and PDF file
  • The application is filled online by applicant the print out of the PDF file can be taken.

Note: Applying for a visa does not mean grant of visa. Please make your travel plans accordingly.

  • Print and sign the filled application form.
  • Paste the photograph as per the specifications. To view photo specifications click here.
  • To view all supporting forms, documents and fees for your visa type and attach with your application form.

Step-2

  • Visit BLS application center as per consular jurisdiction along with the completed visa application, passport and required documents.
  • Payment can be made by following methods (To know about visa fee and charges, go to (provide link) Visa Types and Requirements):
    • Debit Card - (Interac)
    • Cash
    • Money orders and bank drafts (payable to BLS International Services Canada Inc.).

By Postal

Note: Please allow BLS Office 4- 5 working days for processing of your application and the status to be visible on the website once the application is received at our office.

Step-1

  • For general information click here.
  • Identify consular jurisdiction and application center based on your present location.
  • Complete the online application form (IVFRT) before visiting the Indian visa application center.
  • Applicant shall file online passport application on http://passport.gov.in/nri/. This will generate the Web File Number and PDF file.
  • Complete the online application form (IVFRT) before sending the documents to the Indian visa application center.

(Note: Applying for a visa does not mean grant of visa. Please make your travel plans accordingly)

  • Print and sign the filled application form.
  • Paste the photograph as per the specifications. To view photo specifications click here.
  • Print and sign the additional postal application form. To print postal application form click here.
  • View all supporting forms, documents and fees for your visa type and attach with your application form.

Step-2

  • Attach a money order / demand draft of full amount in favour of BLS International Services Canada Inc. The money order should comprise:
  • Visa Fee (depending on type of visa ) + the BLS service charge (CAD 7.40/per application) + to send back your processed application.

    Note: No other mode of payment will be accepted in case of postal application(s).
    Demand draft will be accepted only in case of OCI applications and postal applications.
    All demand draft should be payable to BLS incase of postal application and OCI applications.

  • Send your application(s) completed in all aspects, along with supporting documents and postal order] at as per consular jurisdiction mentioned below:

  • Prepaid envelopes will not be accepted. BLS International will only accept postal application(s) from FedEx our service provider.   This is to ensure that the process is streamlined and as well mitigate any security risks
  • The fees / processing charges are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Incomplete applications will be returned or will be kept on hold. Processing will only begin once the application form(s) are completed along with the proper fees.
  • To make any changes to your online application form(s), you are requested to fill up the form again.
  • Demand draft will be accepted only in case of OCI applications and postal applications.
  • All demand draft should be payable to BLS incase of postal application and OCI applications.

Important points to follow while filling up application form(s):

  • Information provided in the form will be printed on the passport. Therefore, please be careful in filling up the form and avoid any mistakes.
  • Use black/blue ball ink for signatures only.
  • Adjust the information to fit within the number of given boxes.
  • Do not write anything outside the box.
  • Incomplete application(s) will not be accepted.

Step-2

  • Visit your BLS application center as per your jurisdiction along with the OCI application, passport and required documents.
  • BLS service charge can be paid by the following methods (To know more about the OCI fee and charges go to the OCI requirements):
    • Debit Card - (Interac)
    • Cash
    • Money orders and bank drafts (payable to BLS International Services Canada Inc.).
    • OCI fee in favour of ‘The Indian High Commission Ottawa’ or 'The Consulate - General of India, Vancouver' or 'The Consulate - General of India, Toronto' depending on your jurisdiction

By Postal

  • Complete the online application form before visiting the Indian visa application center. The OCI application is in two parts; Part A & Part B. Please note Part B of the application must be handwritten.

Step-2

  • All postal OCI applications will need to have the following two demand drafts included
    1. One draft with OCI application fees & ICWF of CAD 2 in the name of HCI Ottawa or CGI Toronto/Vancouver - as the case may be. The charges are as below:
    a)  Applicant (adult/minor) applying for OCI for the first time.  CAN $ 280.00
    b)  PIO card holder who was above 18 yrs of age at the time of issuance of PIO card CAN $ 28.00
    c)  PIO card holder who was below 18 yrs of age at the time of issuance of PIO card CAN $ 149.00
    d)  Re-issue of OCI card/Transfer of U- Visa sticker and change of personal particulars  CAN $ 28.00
    e)  Issue of duplicate OCI card & U- Visa sticker due to loss/damage of OCI card  CAN $ 103.00

    2. One draft with BLS service charge (payable to BLS International Services Canada Inc.)
  • OCI fee in favour of ‘The Indian High Commission Ottawa’ or 'The Consulate - General of India, Vancouver' or 'The Consulate - General of India, Toronto' depending on your jurisdiction
  • OCI Fee
